Fellowship Schedule / Finances

Schedule:
The fellowship begins on
July 7th and runs for two calendar years. The provides a graduated experience
with increasing responsibility in clinical and surgical diagnostic and
therapeutic modalities.
The
fellowship is divided into six, four month blocks. During each block, the
fellow works primarily with two attending surgeons in both the operating room
and clinic. This approach provides the fellow with a broad spectrum of exposure
to differing techniques throughout the course of the fellowship. Fellows also
participate in the weekly retina clinic at the Beaumont Eye Institute.
Conference responsibilities include a weekly fluorescein conference, a weekly
research conference, and the bimonthly Great Lakes Retina Study Club.
Approximately 20% of the fellowship is allocated for clinical or basic research
activities.
Finances:
Compensation is provided at the $40,000 range. Malpractice coverage and health
insurance premiums for the fellow and his immediate family are also provided.
Additional employment is not permitted under the terms of the fellowship
agreement.
