Mission:
The VRF is a private, nonprofit
organization dedicated to support and promote vision research, to educate the
public and health care personal in ophthalmic health, and to care for patients
with vision threatening diseases.
Faculty: VRF-sponsored research is directed by
physicians at Associated Retinal Consultants (ARC), and devoted to the
advancement of medical and surgical care of retinal and macular diseases.
Location: The
VRF
central administrative
office is located on ARC’s Livonia campus.
VRF
studies are performed
throughout ARC’s various offices in Michigan. Collaborative studies are
performed with the National Institute of Health, the pharmaceutical industry,
and other national international institutions.
Oversight: An
independent Investigational Review Board (IRB) reviews all proposed
research studies to ensure the efficacy and safety of protocols and treatment.
IRB approval is required before a new study is conducted.
